Easter Cross Suncatcher Craft is one of those simple projects that feels extra meaningful during the spring season. It’s colorful, easy, and perfect for busy moms who still want a sweet holiday moment with their kids. Plus, it brightens your windows in minutes, which you know instantly makes the house feel happier 😊.
Today I’m sharing how to make this simple craft step-by-step, along with tips, variations, and fun ways to use it. So grab your supplies, because this one is a keeper!

What it is
This is a simple DIY suncatcher made with tissue paper and a printable cross template. Light shines through the colors, creating a soft stained-glass look on your window. It’s a lovely mix of creativity and meaning, which makes it perfect for the season.
Kids of all ages can help with this project. Younger kids can tear or cut tissue paper, while older kids can cut shapes and design patterns. Because it uses basic supplies, you probably already have everything at home.
This project also works great as a Christian craft for kids, a Sunday school activity, or just a quiet afternoon project at the kitchen table. It’s quick, low-mess, and still feels special.

Why you’ll love this idea
First, it’s incredibly simple to set up. You only need a few supplies, and there’s no complicated prep. That means you can squeeze it in between errands, homework, and dinner without stress.
Also, it’s budget-friendly. Tissue paper and contact paper cost very little, yet the finished craft looks bright and beautiful. Honestly, it feels like one of those Pinterest wins that actually works in real life.
Another reason this idea shines is the flexibility. Kids can choose colors, create patterns, or keep it classic. So every finished piece feels unique, which you know kids absolutely love.
Finally, it doubles as décor. Once it’s on the window, it becomes a spring window decoration that reminds everyone of the holiday. Crafts that decorate your home? Yes, please!

Why this project is great for Easter crafting
This project blends creativity with meaning in a gentle, kid-friendly way. While you craft, you can talk about the season, traditions, or simply enjoy time together. Moments like that feel small, yet they stick with kids for years.
It’s also perfect for different settings. Use it at home, in a classroom, or during church activities. Because it’s a religious Easter craft that’s still fun and colorful, it works for a wide range of ages and attention spans.

Instructions
First, download and print the cross template. Then cut out the shape carefully so you have a clean outline. I love to use an Xacto knife for removing the inner portions to create the stained glass effect.

Next, cut or tear small squares of tissue paper. Meanwhile, place the template on a sheet of contact paper with the sticky side up.

After that, stick tissue paper pieces inside the shape until it’s fully covered. Kids can overlap colors to create a layered look.

Optionally, place another sheet of contact paper on top to seal everything. Finally, trim around the edges, and it’s ready to hang!

How to use the Cross Suncatcher
Hang it on a sunny window to catch the morning light. The colors glow beautifully and instantly brighten the room. It’s such an easy way to add seasonal décor without buying anything new.
You can also use it as part of an Easter lesson or family tradition. Some families make one each year and save photos to see how kids’ styles change. That little tradition turns a simple tissue paper craft into a memory maker.
Another idea is gifting. Grandparents love handmade decorations, and this one travels easily in an envelope. Small gesture, big smile — you know how that goes.

Variations for the craft
Switch things up depending on what you have at home. Instead of squares, try tearing tissue paper for a softer mosaic look. That adds texture and makes it even easier for younger kids.
You can also use patterned tissue paper for extra detail. Pastels feel classic, but bright rainbow colors look stunning in the sunlight.
If you want to extend the activity, turn it into a kids Easter activity station. Let kids make several designs (I have a few other spring-themed suncatcher templates), then hang them together for a colorful display. It instantly makes your space feel festive.

Common questions
How do you hang it on the window?
You can use a suction cup if you have one on hand, or add a small piece of tape at the top corners.
Can toddlers do this craft?
Yes! Pre-cut the shape and let them stick tissue paper pieces. It’s a great fine-motor activity.
How long does it take to make?
Usually about 15–25 minutes, depending on how detailed kids want to get.
Can I use a different template?
Absolutely. Any simple shape works, but a printable cross template keeps it quick and consistent. I have more designs here.
