I’ve also teamed up with my blog friend Lisa at My Finger’s Fly, who made an adorable crochet pattern to go with this recipe! We both went with a Strawberry Mummy theme, and I love how cute they turned out. Take a look at her pattern and tutorial here, then come back to make the chocolate strawberry version of a mummy.

What Are Mummy Strawberries?

Basically, it’s a strawberry dressed up for Halloween. 🍓 You dip fresh strawberries in melted white chocolate, add candy eyes, and drizzle a little more chocolate on top to make them look like tiny mummies.

They’re like Halloween chocolate covered strawberries, but with a fun, spooky twist. The best part? They’re just as delicious as they are adorable.

This recipe comes together in about 10 minutes. No baking, no stress. 🙌 Hit play to watch or read through the instructions below!

  1. Prep your counter with parchment paper or wax paper so cleanup is easy. Or use a lined baking sheet for easy moving while setting.
  2. Melt the white chocolate or candy melts in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20–30 second increments, stirring in between, until smooth.
  3. Dip each strawberry in the melted chocolate, leaving the top of the strawberry out of the chocolate. Let the extra drip off. Place them on the parchment and let them set.
  4. Scoop the remaining chocolate into a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with a tiny corner cut off).
  5. Pipe two little dots of chocolate near the top of each strawberry or add right after dipping strawberries, before chocolate sets. Press candy eyeballs into place before the chocolate hardens. 👀
  6. Drizzle the rest of the chocolate in thin criss cross lines across the strawberries to look like mummy wrappings. This can be done with a spoon or by adding to a ziplock bag or piping bag (although its really easy to use a spoon).
  7. Let them sit until the chocolate sets completely. Then enjoy your festive treats with the whole family.

And that’s it! Cute, spooky, and tasty. a great addition to your Halloween parties!

Can They Be Made Ahead?

Yes and no. Strawberries are a little tricky since they’re juicy.

You can make these a few hours before your party and keep them in the fridge. Store them in a single layer in an airtight container. Just don’t stack them or they’ll smudge.

For the best taste and texture, serve them the same day you make them. If you store them longer than 24 hours, the strawberries may get mushy.

Common Questions About Mummy Strawberries

Can I use milk chocolate instead of white?
You can, but then they won’t look like mummies. You could drizzle white chocolate over milk chocolate for a layered look.

Do I have to use candy eyeballs?
Nope! You can make little eyes with mini chocolate chips or dots of dark chocolate. Or even by piping black candy melts for eyes or using black sprinkles, get creative with what you have on hand to make thesethe perfect chocolate-covered strawberries.

How do I keep the chocolate smooth?
Don’t overheat it. Heat in short bursts in 20-second increments up to 30 seconds works best, stir often, and add a tiny bit of coconut oil if it feels too thick.

Can I freeze chocolate-covered strawberries?
Not really. When they thaw, the strawberries get watery and the chocolate cracks. Best to keep them chilled in the fridge.

What if I don’t have a piping bag?
Use a ziploc bag, snip off a corner tip of the bag, and drizzle away. Although you can drizzle chocolate using a spoon if you are in a pinch.
