Have you ever needed a fun activity for the kids — like, right now — with zero prep time? Yeah, me too. That’s exactly why I love having printable games ready to go. And this one? It’s out of this world. (Sorry, I had to. 😄)

What Is Space Bingo?

Space Bingo is a classic bingo game with a stellar twist. Instead of numbers, the boards are filled with space-themed images — think planets, rockets, astronauts, and stars.

This printable set includes 10 unique bingo boards and a matching set of calling cards. You print the boards, hand them out, cut apart the calling cards, toss them in a hat, and start drawing. Players cover each space as it’s called. First one to fill a row — across, down, or diagonal — wins! It’s simple, it’s fast, and it works for a wide age range.

Why You’ll Love This Printable Game

First, it’s genuinely easy to set up. There’s no app to download, no batteries required, and no fancy supplies. Just a printer, some paper, and something to use as markers — pennies, buttons, candy pieces, whatever you’ve got on hand. It’s the kind of low-prep activity that busy parents actually use.

Second, it works for so many occasions. A space unit study, a birthday party, a rainy afternoon, a classroom reward day — this game fits right in. The image-based bingo cards are also great for younger kids who aren’t reading yet. Everyone can play, and that’s always a win in my book.

  2. Cut apart the individual calling cards.
  3. Distribute one bingo board to each player.
  4. Place the calling cards in a hat, bowl, or bag.
  5. Draw one card at a time and announce or show the image.
  6. Players cover the matching space on their board.
  7. First to complete a row — across, down, or diagonal — calls out “Bingo!” and wins!

You can use candy, coins, dried beans, or even LEGO bricks as markers. Bonus: if you use candy, the winner gets to eat their markers. That’s a house rule we stand by. 🍬

Variations for Playing Space Bingo

You know how regular bingo can get a little repetitive? Mix it up! Here are some easy variations to keep things fresh:

Blackout Bingo — Instead of just one row, players have to cover every single space on their board. This makes the game last longer and works great for smaller groups.

Four Corners — Players only need to cover the four corner spaces to win. It’s quick and perfect for a short attention span (no judgment — I’m talking about myself here too 😄).

Postage Stamp — Cover a 2×2 block of four squares anywhere on the board. This one’s fun because players have to think a little more strategically.

Team Play — Split into two teams and share boards. Players work together to help teammates find and cover spaces. Great for classrooms!

Speed Bingo — Set a timer between draws to keep the pace up. Works especially well with older kids who need a little more challenge.

Common Questions About Space Bingo Printables

How many players can play at once? With 10 unique boards, up to 10 players can join in without anyone having the exact same card. Perfect for a classroom or a party!

What age is this game good for? Since the boards use images instead of words or numbers, this game works well for preschool-age kids and up. Even toddlers can join in with a little help.

Can I laminate the boards? Absolutely! Laminating the boards makes them reusable, which is a great idea if you plan to play more than once. Use dry-erase markers to cover spaces and wipe clean after each game.

What can I use as bingo markers? Anything small and flat works — coins, buttons, dried beans, mini erasers, bingo daubers/dot markers or small candies. We’re big fans of using M&Ms in this house. 🍫

Do I need special paper to print? Regular copy paper works just fine. If you want sturdier boards, print on cardstock. It makes them easier for little hands to hold and they’ll last longer too.
