I love red desserts! They are perfect for lots of holidays especially Valentine’s Day! I have a sweet treat for you to share with friends, the kids or your sweetheart! They come in individual mason jar servings too! Black Forest Jar Cakes are an easy, but pretty dessert.
Let’s get started with what you will need!
Black Forest Jar Cakes
yields 10 jar cakes
Ingredients
- 1 chocolate cake, baked and cooled (either from mix or scratch)
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- 1 carton of whipped cream (Cool Whip)
- Chocolate for garnish
- Small mason jars
Directions
Start by cutting the cake into twenty pieces and gathering the other ingredients.
Start by placing a slice of the cake into the jar and smashing it into the bottom.
Follow by layering on a small amount of cherry pie filling.
Add a layer of cool whip on top of the cherry pie filling.
Repeat the layers, cake, pie filling and finish with more whip cream and top with chocolate shavings.
To get a fancy whip cream look on top use spray whip cream.
Serve immediately or twist on the lid and store in the fridge for up to two days.
Doesn’t this make a yummy and easy treat! If you aren’t a fan of whip cream replace it with frosting in between the layers of cake and pie filling.
