Easy Homemade Waffles

Waffles are one of my favorite breakfasts. I love that they are simple to make, but taste amazing. I want to share my go to homemade waffle recipe with you today, plus, my favorite ways to serve them!

This recipe calls for eight ingredients, that your probably have on hand. The hardest thing is probably whipping up the egg whites for a nice fluffy texture or not overfilling your waffle maker. Why do I do that with at least one waffle every time (face palm).

Need toppings ideas?

What to use for waffle toppings?

Here is a list of a bunch of ideas.

  • buttermilk syrup, blueberry syrup, practically any syrup you love
  • ice cream and peaches
  • berries and whip cream
  • Nutella
  • peanut butter and mini chocolate chips
  • chicken
  • butter and cinnamon and sugar
  • cookie butter
  • berries and powdered sugar
  • peanut butter and banana slices
  • caramel syrup with sliced bananas
  • yogurt and berries
  • fruit purees and powdered sugar

With all of those waffle toppings, I like to double this recipe and flash freeze the extras. Then I store them in a gallon bag. When I’m ready to eat them on a busy morning, I toast them up. They retain a sort of crispy outside, almost like they are fresh out of the waffle maker.

This recipe works great in all types of waffle makers. We sometimes use a belgian waffle maker or a regular one.

And be sure to check back tomorrow for this delicious buttermilk syrup to pair with them!

Notes

Double this recipe if you are making waffles for a crowd or if you want to freeze some for later.
Waffles freeze well. Flash freeze on a cookie sheet and then store in an airtight container or ziplock bag. I like to toast them in the toaster to give them a little crispness on the outside. But microwave or oven can also be used to reheat frozen waffles.
