Baby Swim Cap Tutorial with Huggies® Little Swimmers®

With warmer weather, I’ve been itching to get out and head to the pool. I’m dreaming of vacations to water parks, the lake and the beach. It all started when I was at Sam’s Club the other day and I saw the Huggies® Little Swimmers®. I recently picked up a cute little bathing suit for Miss JJ and the diapers got me thinking about how she would need an adorable baby swim cap. I knew I could whip one up and wanted to share the idea.

She has recently loved hanging out in the cart since I carried her in the carrier forever! The Huggies® Little Swimmers® had a cute Finding Dory display and guess what, there is a fun contest going on.

Baby Swim Cap Tutorial

Supplies List

• 1/8 yard dance/swim knit fabric
• sewing machine
• thread
• fabric scissors

Directions

1. Start by gathering supplies and threading your sewing machine with a matching thread.

2.  Fold up ends a 1/4 of an inch and pin before sewing. Do to both short ends of the fabric.

3. Hem both short ends with a zig zag stitch.

4. Fold fabric in half and cut down the middle.

1. Next, sew the two pieces of fabric together into a tube (measure baby’s head and cut off any excess fabric before sewing if needed I think mine ended up being 17 inches around) . Place the folded up hems on the outside and sew the two sides together using a zig zag stitch and turning the tube inside out.

2. Measure the hat on the baby’s head to see where to close off the tube. The hemmed edges should be the bottom of the hat. Sew a simple running stitch with a needle through the top of the hat from the measured place. 

3. Pull tight and tie off with a knot.

4. Cute a small strip of leftover fabric and tie around the running stitch. Trim off the top to desired length.

Grab all of baby’s swim gear and head out side! My little babe is quite bald so she needs this little swim cap to protect that head of her’s from the sunshine!
