Hunger Games May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor Keychain at thebensonstreet.com

Hello and Happy Hunger Games! Today I’m sharing a fun hunger games keychain and over the next few weeks Marissa at Rae Gun Ramblings is hosting a Happy Hunger Games series. Over the next few weeks until Mockingjay Part 1 comes out in theaters. I am getting pretty excited. Let’s get our craft on while we wait for the movie!

For this Hunger Games keychain you will need:

  • a small piece of wood (I had tags from Pick Your Plum that were 2 x 3 inches)
  • a keyring
  • drill
  • wax paper
  • printer
  • credit card (for smoothing the image onto the wood)
  • The Hunger Games Quote Image

I saw this great tutorial for transferring images to wood by The Art of Doing Stuff. Read her tips for more info on this process.

Start by cutting down your small piece of wood and then drilling a small hole in the top for the key ring. Drill it out nice and smooth by going through with the drill on both sides of the wood.

Take the Hunger Games Image or any other image and open in Word or another program and resize it to the right size for your small piece of wood.

Here is the image. To download it, click on the image and then right click on the picture to save to your computer.

Cut a pice of wax paper to the size of regular paper (8 1/2 x 11 inches).

Tape the wax paper to another sheet of paper to make it easier to feed through the printer. Print the image on the wax paper.  Be careful not to touch the image. The ink will smear.

Place the image onto the wood. Do not move it or it will smear. Use the credit card to smooth the wax paper over the wood.

Remove and insert keyring. All done!

Isn’t this such a fun way to love The Hunger Games. The quote and arrow are such great symbols of the story.
