Divergent Inspired Bird Necklace

Easy Divergent Inspired Bird Necklace Idea at thebensonstreet.com

If you follow me on Instagram (if you don’t you can follow me here) you probably saw that I was obsessively reading the Divergent series. I read all three books in a little less than a week. I loved them. It was a fun week. The house was a mess. Dinners were simple, but I had an adventure for sure. Now I can’t wait for the movie coming out this week. To bide my time until the movie I created this Divergent Inspired Bird Necklace.

What you will need for the bird necklace:

  • Vellum Paper with Bird Cluster printed on it (I found the bird cluster from Rae Gun Ramblings. She has done lots of awesome Divergent posts like these neat necklaces.)
  • Black Metal Charm
  • Black Cord
  • Mod Podge or light glue (optional)

I found the metal charm discs at a local craft store. Anything round will work. I liked that these were simple and black which it totally Dauntless.

To print the birds on the vellum, I used the graphic from Rae Gun Ramblings and positioned it off center in the middle of a circle the size of my metal disc. Use PicMonkey to create the circle and add the birds or just open the bird cluster in word and resize it. Then print and trace the charm for the circle.

Cut out the vellum circle. Poke the whole for the string with a pin using the whole on the metal disc as a guide. Finish the necklace off by stringing the vellum on top of the metal disc with the black cord. Tie off the ends in a knot.

I like that the vellum is loose, but if you want it to stay on the metal disc use a small amount of Mod Podge or light glue to fix the vellum onto the metal disc.
