Halloween is coming so fast! I can’t believe we are nearing the end of October. I’ve got a great idea for a quick last minute halloween craft.

I can’t wait for Halloween and am hoping to throw a killer Halloween party. If you want to do the same, you’ve got to make one of these spider web party serving tray.

Even if you aren’t throwing a party this tray is super fun, so you will still want one.

Let’s get started with this quick but adorable tutorial.

Here is what you will need:

  • metal serving tray
  • black spray paint
  • white paint marker

My mom has all sorts of awesome treasures at her house. When she was going through her garage, she found this gorgeous metal tray. It is sort of vintage and the perfect shape for a spider web serving tray.

Start by painting the tray black. Paint each side with a couple of coats, drying in between each coat.

After the tray is dry, use a strip of paper to guide in making the web. Start with one line down the middle of the tray using the white paint marker.

Add another line perpendicular to the first line. Continue to use the paper as a guide.

I drew four lines to form a star before adding the webbing. This paint marker makes it so much easier to draw the lines. I was going to try and paint them on. So glad I didn’t, this was easy.

Add the web by using slightly curved strokes between each straight line, starting near the middle.

Add more web until it gets near the outer edge of the tray. I went around three times with the curved web lines.

Go over the paint lines again to make sure they stand out well against the black.

I paired my tray with a cute spider table runner. It was perfect for setting out candy cups.
