Downton Abbey {Inspired} Headband

If you are having Downton Abbey withdrawals raise your hand. I totally am. Even though the season ended tragically, I still can’t wait. I love the clothes, the characters that are still left and of course the DRAMA. I have always dreamed of being a princess or Elizabeth Bennett in Pride & Prejudice. Wouldn’t it be fabulous to get dressed in something marvelous for dinner? I love it and am all wrapped up in it.

In the last three seasons I have noticed very dramatic head pieces. Ever since I’ve seen them, I’ve wanted to create my own. I probably wear a headband 90% of the time. I have long hair and love that they keep it out of my face and add a little personality to my hair. So naturally I need to create a Downton Abbey Inspired Headband.

Here is my Downton Abbey Inspired Headband plus tutorial.

Oh Edith. We have had a rough relationship (since I like Mary soo much) but she did look stunning at her wedding. I was soo sad that she was left at the alter.

And the lovely Sybil. All these head pieces are so fun and bring such life to the characters.

So let’s make a Downton Abbey (Inspired} Headband.

You will need:

  • felt
  • beads, broaches, jewels, pearls, etc. I used four large beads from Michael’s.
  • headband
  • hot glue gun & glue

Downton Abbey Inspired Headband at www.thebensonstreet.com Start by placing your beads how you would like them designed on the headband. I just wanted to use these four dramatic beads in a row. After they are arranged trace the beads on the felt with a marker.

Downton Abbey Inspired Headband at www.thebensonstreet.com 2 Cut out two of the same sized felt that the beads will be glued to. Glue the beads to one piece of felt.

Glue the second piece of felt to the head band where you would like the beads to be placed. I put mine off center because I like them a little to one side.

Let it dry and then wear it with a fun updo, or with hair down. Either way you are bound to make a Downton Abbey statement.

If only I had Anna around to pull my hair up into a beautiful ’20’s up do.

There are so many bead/jewel choices that could work for a Downton Abbey {Inspired} Headband. I had a hard time deciding while I was at Michael’s. I might have to go back for some more.
